Mafraq committee to remove unofficial Syrian camps

By JT - Mar 13,2018 - Last updated at Mar 13,2018

AMMAN — Mafraq Governor Hassan Qiyam has formed a committee of district mayors and security services to remove random camps of Syrian refugees in various areas of the governorate, specifically in the Northern Badia, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Tuesday.

The governor said that the committee was formed after receiving many complaints about the existence of unofficial camps, which resulted in health hazards in nearby residential neighbourhoods.

He said the committee will provide the refugees with the choice of moving to Zaatari and Azraq camps or to regular housing in the host communities. Qiyam noted that international and local organisations that aid Syrian refugees have been contacted to stop providing services to refugees living in random camps.
